PASARA FACT SHEET

PSARA license serves as a fundamental mandate for security agencies in India. Private Security Agency Regulation Act regularizes the operations of private security companies. The license is valid for a period of five years. Private security agencies refer to a business entity that facilitates security services to businesses from different verticals. PSARA Act, 2005 came into effect to underpin a certain standard of professionalism in the regime of security services.

Acquiring the license involves

Application Form: A PSARA controlling authority is located in every state. The applicant is required to fill out the PSARA license application form. The application process will start once the NOC (No Objection Certificate) after the police verification is received.

MoU to be Signed

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) must be marked with a government-authorized training institute to conduct training for the security guards & supervisors.

Police Verification

The applicant, after submission of the application, must apply for police verification, which is an essential requisite in obtaining a license for PSARA. There are separate forms for verification by every director if the applicant is a firm, company or association of persons.

The PSARA license is granted if the authorities are satisfied with the verifying details and documents. The Service Charge is the income that is accrued to the officer. The rest the amount is deployed as the salary, EPF, uniform etc.

The max age at the time of starting the agency is 60. The officer will be allowed to run the agency for a period of two years. Prior to attaining the age of 60 and starting the agency, the complete formalities stated above should be over.

The amount of service charge varies from the city to city depending on its being area A, B or C. The service charge forms the component which is the compensation to the security agency.
